Data Engineer
I had a one-hour technical interview that covered data engineering concepts like ETL pipelines, data modeling, and SQL optimization. After that, I did a technical challenge where I had to deal with real-world data problems, such as cleaning and transforming datasets. Lastly, I had another interview to present and explain my solution, talking about my approach, the tools I used, and how it could be improved.
- Can you explain slow-changing dimensions in Data Warehousing?
Front End Developer
It was a long process, took about 3 months. Started with some quick JavaScript questions, then a big project to build a blog according to strict specs. After that, two tech people asked detailed questions about website building and related topics for about an hour. They offered no travel or relocation help. I also found out they work more than Ireland's legal 34 hours per week, which they didn't mention beforehand. Some engineers are arrogant and don't take feedback. It felt like a waste of money and time. They mentioned it's hard for them to find Frontend developers, but they need to treat them better, especially those relocating from other countries to save costs.
- Questions about JavaScript
- Project involving building a blog with specific requirements
- Detailed explanation of how a website is built
Business Intelligence Analyst
The process was planned for four rounds, but I only made it through two. First, a recruiter call where we talked about the company and the usual 'Tell me about yourself.' They mentioned the next round would cover my tools and 'some technical questions,' but didn't give specifics. Then, a team interview with two really nice people. They asked me textbook SQL questions and then surprised me by asking me to share my screen and solve a problem. They had said a take-home would come later, so I wasn't prepped on basic SQL theory. Everyone seemed great, but I lost interest when I saw the job reposted on LinkedIn, suggesting they're still looking for that specific cultural fit.
- Can you introduce yourself?
- What's your SQL knowledge?
- Solve this SQL problem.
HR Manager
The interview process was okay until the final stages. I went through multiple rounds and the last interview time got changed last minute. The recruiter didn't clarify, so I had to chase them. Then, they preferred early interview times for Europe time zones. I did my last interview at 6:30 am PST with two ladies in Europe, and it seemed to go well. They said the recruiter would follow up in a few days, but I didn't hear back for two weeks. By then, the job was reposted on LinkedIn. I had already accepted another great opportunity, but this experience showed me their interview process and company don't take candidates seriously, especially for an HR role. It was eye-opening, and I feel like I dodged a bullet. I've read other reviews about micromanagement from Europe, and my interview experience confirms this. I hope they get better at treating candidates and employees.
- They asked the same questions repeatedly throughout the process, which was tiresome.
- They were vague when I asked them questions.
