So I had a recruiter reach out about my application and we had a good first chat and interview. He was happy to answer my questions and it seemed like a decent fit. He then told me the salary range, and wow, it was super low for today's market and this kind of job. I told him that probably wouldn't fly. He said he'd keep me in mind for the future, which is fair. A few days later, I got a calendar invite to talk to the hiring manager, even though I'd mentioned the pay wasn't going to work out. I accepted it anyway and then met with the hiring manager. The interview was really quick. I think the hiring manager is prioritizing culture fit over experience.

I interviewed with Lessonly for an SDR position. First, I had a 30-minute phone call that served as a screening but also felt like a first interview since it was with the Hiring Manager. We discussed my background, career aspirations, and I learned more about the job. Then, I did a short take-home assignment, which took about an hour, where I had to write email responses to customer inquiries. Finally, I met with a group of six people, in pairs, for an hour and a half. This group included Sales Managers, SDRs at different levels, and HR. I was encouraged to ask them questions and was ready to answer many myself. Everyone seemed nice, genuine, and sharp. I ultimately declined the offer due to compensation; while fair, it wasn't the right fit for me personally, as it had a lower base salary with higher commission potential, which wasn't high enough for my needs.

I applied online and a few days later, I got an email with a link to a technical assessment. After finishing that a couple days later, I got another email to set up a phone interview. They set up a second phone interview after the first one. They said I'd hear back about next steps within a week after the second interview. A week went by and I hadn't heard anything, so I reached out to HR and they told me I wasn't selected. It was a pretty good process overall but it felt like I got ghosted at the end once they decided not to move forward with me.

The interview process was lengthy and required a lot of time to complete the assignments and interview phases. It was great to meet the team members and had an in-depth grasp of the type of work. However, it did not work out. We were targeting different phases in the development process and were not a good fit at the time. I'm thankful for the experience but disappointed having committed so much time and not be able to see it through.
