Applied for the job online and got a call back super fast, like within a week. Then I had an in-person interview, which was pretty chill and easy to talk with the managers. They seem to want people who are team players, ready to work, and plan on sticking around or growing with the company. They offer chances to move up; each store is a bit different, but if you work hard and get along with management, they'll support your growth. It might take years to become a store manager, and there's a path for it, but it involves working through the company structure over time.

Interviewed with the supervisor of the Design Department and the Director of Marketing. We talked about my background. They told me about the work environment and the job. They let me know what they expected for the position. We talked about pay and bonus structure.

Behavioral Other

The interview process seemed generic with questions that weren't well-thought-out. The panel was low-energy and seemed unenthusiastic about the company, giving the impression they were just there for the pay. While they mentioned being 'family run,' it felt more business-oriented and not employee-focused. The company culture is described as archaic and controlling, with no flexibility in work schedules and strict policies like no facial hair, even for non-public roles. Compensation is structured manipulatively, with a large portion in bonuses and mandatory retirement contributions, giving the company more control. Due to these factors, I decided not to proceed with employment.

I went into the hiring manager's office and got hired on the spot. It was a very friendly environment, and they train you well on the job. It's a fast-paced, albeit dirty, environment. There's a lot of staff to help you get caught up. Full-time makes $11.30 an hour. The interview was easy, even if you have no experience. You will have to learn quick or your time at Les Schwab will be limited. It's very fun to learn new techniques and other rewarding things when helping a customer.
