I had a call with the recruiter, then a take-home algorithm assessment. After that, I had a 30-minute call with the hiring manager that was very technical, focusing on React trivia rather than my experience. Then came a 3-hour virtual onsite, which included a 1-hour live coding session (it was more of a real problem to solve, not algorithm focused as I was told). This was followed by a 1-hour systems design discussion where I could pick backend or frontend, and it was conversational. Lastly, there was a 45-minute meeting with the director of engineering, which was highly technical with some tricky questions.

So I applied and went through a few rounds. It started with an online technical test, then a chat with the hiring manager about that test. After that, there was a technical interview, a behavioral interview, and a system design interview, spread out over a few days. The team seemed pretty good. The recruiter called me back a few times, which was nice but felt a bit informal. I got through the whole thing, but they ended up picking someone else.

I was contacted by a recruiter on Linkedin, but they were late and then claimed they only wanted to talk to me because of a Linkedin glitch. They then told me they needed someone with more experience and that there aren't any jobs for people with less than 5 years of experience, suggesting I consider a new career and that bootcamp grads sometimes have more luck. It was super unprofessional after I prepped for over an hour for a 5-minute chat.
