The hiring process began with a technical written test that included SQL queries. After that, there was a Skype interview that also involved a face-to-face component. The Skype interview had a Chinese interviewer and the technical head from India. The written test questions were pretty straightforward. The interview itself covered basic questions about my past and current projects, including any challenges I faced and how I managed to resolve them.

Applied online and a recruiter hit me up about 4 months later to chat. We discussed the company and my background for like 30 mins. Then, I had a phone interview the next week with a Software Engineer. We went over the company, team, my tech experience, and I had to solve a coding problem on a shared doc. It was a basic data structure problem where I had to explain my code and test cases. I got my questions answered too. The week after, the recruiter contacted me to set up some video calls, either all in one go or over two days. All interviews were with engineers (2 junior, 1 staff, 1 manager) and they said they'd reach out via Google Hangouts or phone. The first interviewer ghosted me, so I waited an hour for nothing. The second interviewer called and said the first guy had an emergency, which is kinda rude not to email or anything. This interviewer talked about the job, then gave me a simple data structure problem to code. The third interview had two algorithm questions. The last one was about my past projects, an algorithm question, and a question about a specific framework. All interviews were over the phone. The questions were pretty standard, like what you find online. A week later, the recruiter called (they were 20 mins late) with the results.

First, there was a phone chat with a recruiter. Then, an onsite interview with 4 people. Do your homework on the company. There's a lot of bad news about LeEco lately, but the CEO seems to have the right idea and wants to do good things. With that said, here are my pros and cons from my interactions. PROS - They have Chinese translators - They seem willing to take risks on people - They want to be aggressive CONS - A lot of the product direction seems to come from China - They hire smart people but question what they say.

Technical Coding

Applied online and reached out to the recruiter on LinkedIn. The recruiter called after about a month for a brief chat and then set up a call with the hiring manager. The hiring manager had a 30-minute call where they asked for my GitHub profile and assigned a coding challenge: building a simple responsive webpage. After that, there was silence for one to two weeks despite daily follow-ups. Eventually, the recruiter informed me that the hiring manager had moved forward with another candidate. This was truly the worst interview experience I've ever had.
