First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Lee's Summit R-7 School District.
Communications and Marketing Specialist
I had a 30 minute talk with the marketing people. They asked me about my past work, what I think about public education, and their ongoing projects. They threw around fifteen questions in the interview.
- What aspects of our current operations could be enhanced?
Human Resources Specialist
I was notified by an automated email that I was selected for an initial in-person screening interview with two key leaders in the HR department. Then I was selected for a group interview with the HR team and the same key leaders. This panel interview was preceded by a practical exercise using MS Office applications for two hypothetical workplace scenarios. Everyone was gracious, helpful, and worked to put me at ease with the process. This was my second interview process with this school district and each time the entire process was completed in under two weeks and everyone appeared focused on giving candidates every opportunity to excel in the process. They are big on real-time assessments of skills, so prepare to have to demonstrate your proficiency prior to hire. The hiring manager was accessible and communicative throughout the entire process and very kind and supportive when I showed up too early for an interview--my error. Again, hiring managers and teams at this employer are committed to a thorough and professional hiring process. Although not selected, it was a great experience.
- Describe a time when you failed at a task at work and explain how you dealt with it.
Networking Intern
The interview experience was very professional and informative. It felt a little intimidating initially, but I ended up feeling comfortable with the team. Overall, it was a great opportunity, and I'm glad I had the chance to work with them.
- Can you tell me about your five greatest strengths and weaknesses?
