Data Science Intern
You start with a recruiter call where you discuss your background and resume. Then, you meet the team for a technical assessment covering machine learning, statistics, and SQL. Finally, there's a case study where you present your findings.
- Can you explain how a decision tree works?
Event Manager
The process involved an initial HR screen, followed by a remote interview with the hiring manager, and then an in-person meeting with the local Sales Manager. The hiring manager's interview was particularly concerning, starting with contradictions to what HR had said, making it feel like a bait-and-switch. It was less of an interview and more of a one-sided conversation where the hiring manager primarily spoke at me, seeking confirmation of understanding. Inappropriate, gender-biased questions were asked, such as inquiring about family impact on the job schedule, and the hiring manager pointedly showed a ringless finger, mentioning being unattached. It seemed they weren't looking for an experienced professional but rather a compliant individual who wouldn't question things. I was ghosted after this. The hiring manager stated that 'we don't have 'days off,' we have 'flex days' that you might have off if you are able to do everything that needed to be done and no one reaches out to you for anything.' He also added, 'I don't consider checking and responding to email on those days to be working, I consider that personal ownership of your business.' Furthermore, the company expects employees to provide their own tech and pay for necessary software subscriptions, which is unusual for a legitimate company.
- Why are you interested in working weekends?
Outside Sales Representative
I put in an application for an Outside Sales job in Northern NJ for the Stair Lift division. A recruiter reached out after I applied, saying they were impressed with my background and sent me a Calendly link to schedule an initial phone interview. I picked a specific Wednesday slot ten days out. I got several reminders to confirm, which I did. But by 10:52 AM on the day of the interview, after the 10:20 AM start time, I hadn't heard back and sent an email to check if we were still on.

Field Marketing Manager
I applied and then got contacted to schedule an interview. I picked a time for what I thought was a recruiter call, but on the day of the interview, nobody called. I waited 10 minutes and then emailed to see if we needed to reschedule. No call after 30 minutes. The next day, I emailed again to reschedule and got a link. I chose the earliest available slot, made arrangements, and then 5 minutes before the call, someone canceled without explanation. Then I got a text saying the job was filled. The day after that, I got another email and text asking to schedule the interview. It was a really disorganized and poorly communicated process, and I never even got to talk to anyone. All my emails were ignored.
