It was a quick, direct interview, lasting no more than 20 minutes. They asked about my skills and experience, and why I was a good fit for the job.

So I applied for an Account Coordinator position and went through 3 rounds of interviews. The first round was an open call where selected candidates could come in anytime during a set window. I had to do a writing test and a trivia sheet about NY press. Then I met with the COO who talked about the roles. It was pretty chaotic in the office with yelling and bickering, which felt unprofessional but I guess it's a tough environment. The second interview was also an open call, and I ended up waiting a while because the COO was in a client meeting. I had another writing test, this time social media posts and a blog pitch. I met with Nora, who asked general questions about my background and goals, and asked for references. I emailed them and followed up, but didn't hear back for about 1.5-2 weeks. Then, I got an email at 1:30 PM asking if I could come in at 4:00 PM the same day for a third interview. I asked to reschedule for the next couple of days, but was told no. I went in anyway, met with Nora again, answered more questions, and did another writing test, this time a press release for a restaurant, which she liked. When I asked about the day-to-day for the open positions, she said it depends on the candidate. There was more arguing that day too. I haven't heard anything since and honestly, I'm not sure I would have taken the job even if offered.

Confirmed questions1 question
  • The trivia page focusing so much on NY press was surprising, especially since the roles didn't seem to require media contacts, and strong experience in other cities can be just as applicable.
