I applied through LinkedIn and the recruiter reached out for a phone screen. She went through my resume and the job description, asking for details. She thought I worked for an outdoor equipment company due to a misunderstanding of my employer's name. It took a few minutes to correct this. She then said she didn't know the hiring status because the hiring manager doesn't talk to her. She said she'd pass my info along and keep me updated. Four weeks later, she called saying she had an 'interesting update'. When I called back, she said the position was filled. It was a strange experience, and I wouldn't reapply.

The process took a bit of time, but the recruiter, Laura, was excellent at keeping me updated throughout. The team was really engaged during the interviews, asked insightful questions, and the company felt like a good place to work.

Had some really good chats on the phone and then in person. But after that, getting any kind of update was like pulling teeth. When I did get a response, it was always the same line: 'You're in the top group for consideration' and 'We should have a decision shortly.' This went on for eight weeks after my last interview, and three weeks after they said 'We should have a decision tomorrow.' I even emailed to ask for a status update and got a standard 'thanks, but no thanks - it's not you, it's us' email. It's frustrating because I'd rather know if it's a 'no' so I can move on, instead of being led on thinking I'm in the running.

I was contacted by a recruiter about the job opportunity and applied. I went through 1 phone interview and 2 in-person interviews, as well as being called back in to fill out paperwork for HR to do a background check. I was clearly given the expectation of an offer. They went completely quiet and would not return calls from the recruiter they hired for several days. I eventually received a letter by snail-mail stating that they chose someone else. I knew that was not true, because I saw the job re-listed by the same recruiter. Since I believe my background check would be squeaky clean, I am left with the feeling that they saw something they couldn't legally state as a reason for not hiring me.
