Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at LaunchDarkly.
Recruiter
It started with a 30-minute recruiter call that was pretty high-level. Then there was a 30-minute hiring partner Zoom call that focused more on tough-to-fill roles and analytics. After that, I had a panel interview with a teammate, a collaborative partner, and someone for culture and values. Finally, I got the offer.
- Can you discuss your strategies for sourcing diverse candidates and those with niche technical skills?
Recruiter
The process was pretty fast, starting with an interview here in the US, followed by a video call with a recruiter in the UK. The UK recruiter seemed really disengaged, like they were focused on something else on their computer and I was just talking to the side of their head. They sounded really monotone, cold, and rude, which made the whole interview feel unpleasant. I honestly wanted to quit midway through and not finish. The first call in the US, however, was super responsive and positive, making me eager to continue right away. Guess I dodged a bullet there.
- What's your approach to sourcing high-caliber candidates?
- Are you open to recruiting individuals from schools outside the top 10 or 15?
- How do you evaluate a candidate's cultural alignment with the company?
Talent Acquisition
I met with 5 people total, and 2 of them were part of the Executive Leadership. All the conversations were straightforward, honest, and direct. I really liked that they took 45 mins to an hour for me. They were not in a rush to make a decision, and they didn't want me to feel rushed either.
- What are your current search priorities, and how can we make sure this role fits them?
