The interview journey kicked off with a video call with the HR Manager, followed by a video chat with the Creative Director and the President/CCO. After that, there was a design assessment, and then a second video interview with the CD and President/CCO. It all concluded with an offer. Overall, the process was pretty enjoyable and wrapped up in about a month.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

I first talked to a recruiter who then sent my info to the manager. The manager reached out asking if I could interview that same afternoon. I showed up early and waited a bit. The manager came out a little late, gave me a quick tour, and then we went to his office. He did most of the talking, about 75% of the hour-long interview, explaining the company and the role. He said he wanted to make sure I knew what I was getting into. About halfway through, he started asking me questions. During this time, other people kept interrupting, popping their heads in to chat or ask questions. I managed to stay positive and refocus when they left. Near the end, someone else came to the door, and the manager realized he had to go. He cut the interview short, shook my hand, and said he'd be in touch with my recruiter by next week. He then handed me off to someone else to be walked out while he left with the other person. I felt it was a waste of time because he barely talked to me. He seemed distracted, checked his email during the interview, and didn't make much eye contact. It felt like a courtesy interview. He said he'd update my recruiter by next week. My recruiter and I figured he had other interviews lined up since I was the only candidate she sent. No word for a week. My recruiter then hinted at an internal candidate. Still nothing after two, three, and four weeks. Over a month later, my recruiter told me they still hadn't filled the position and that he didn't NOT pick me, but they were transitioning and unsure. I had already moved on, and the unprofessionalism still bothers me.

I spoke with the Recruiting Manager over the phone initially. She mentioned that they were planning ahead for a future departure and to backfill another position. Although the team wasn't ready to hire then, she stayed in touch monthly. Then, I met to talk about my background and interviewed with the owner. This interview was casual, focusing on how my experience aligned with their requirements. No specific behavioral questions were asked. The overall experience was quite positive and friendly; if the environment doesn't impress you, the welcoming atmosphere surely will.
