It was a good experience. I applied and heard back for an interview in under two weeks. The onboarding was thorough, and I got to attend several workshops before the semester began. The university offers many resources for new faculty.

It was a tough interview process, had to meet with department heads and an academic cabinet member. Took about 3 weeks, and involved sending in my application, cover letter, and talking to HR.

Behavioral Presentation Other

The interview process was quite unusual and unlike other institutional interviews I've experienced. I would have appreciated more insight into the library itself and the daily job expectations, but the focus seemed to be on a broader, perhaps institutional, agenda rather than the specific role. It's good that they asked the same questions to all candidates. A campus tour was pleasant, though I was surprised by the library's modest size. During informal chats with staff, there were hints of underlying issues and negative aspects of the college, which made me question the overall situation.

Confirmed questions2 questions
  • Questions were asked that seemed unrelated to the library's needs and more pertinent to other departments.
  • My skills and expertise as a librarian didn't appear to be a significant consideration.

The interview process involved an initial phone screening, followed by a committee interview, and then a final interview. The interviewers were welcoming, and overall, the experience was quite positive compared to others. I had to postpone the final interview because I was sick, but they were understanding about it.
