Engineer
The interview process was good and tailored to my CV and experience. The people were cooperative, and it felt more like a discussion than a strict interview. I really enjoyed the interview, it was good. There were some questions about my favorite subjects and hobbies, which were discussed in detail.
- Can you discuss Piping?
- What are your thoughts on Energy Transition?
- Could you explain the Costing aspects?

Campus placements, which had 3 rounds. The first round was Aptitude test for shortlisting. Second was a Group Discussion where candidates were put into groups and given a topic to discuss. Topics could be current affairs, social issues, business scenarios, or industry-related. The last round was a Personal Interview to assess communication skills, technical knowledge, and problem-solving abilities.

For campus placements, L&T Ltd. conducts two screening rounds. The eligibility criteria were quite strict, requiring 60% or 6.5 CGPA for Mechanical, Electrical, and Civil B. Tech students. The initial round was a combined Aptitude, English, and Technical test with 120 questions to be completed in 120 minutes, featuring an equal distribution of 40 questions per section. The difficulty was generally moderate to easy, though many struggled with time management. It was crucial to attempt about 75–80% of the questions with good accuracy, as there were no negative marks. Those who passed this written test received individual emails with their MS Teams 1-on-1 interview time slots, usually about 2–3 weeks after the test. For Mechanical interviews, the panel consisted of 1 HR representative and 2 senior executives. The panel in my experience was very welcoming and aimed to make candidates feel at ease. They asked initial questions regarding willingness to relocate anywhere in India and to work in remote locations.
- Can you explain the fundamental methods for producing gears?
- Which surface finishing techniques are employed subsequently?
- Could you define what surface finish means?
Graduate Engineering Trainee
You are given a 32-bit signed integer ‘N’. The integer will lie in the range [-2^31, 2^31 - 1]. Your task is to return the reverse of the given integer. If reversing causes overflow, then return -1. Note: (1) Do not use data types with the capacity of more than 32-bit like ‘long int’ or ‘long long int’ in C++. The problem is meant to reverse the integer using a 32-bit data type only. (2) You should assume that the environment does not allow storing signed or unsigned 64-bit integers.
- Can you explain what an IC engine is and how it functions?
