You'll be interviewed by a panel of 3 people. They'll take turns asking you questions they've prepared and write down your answers before moving on. The first question will be about your education and experience. They'll also ask about public speaking, integrity, and quality systems. Some questions will be about your personality, like how you'd handle disagreements with coworkers.

The application process is pretty straightforward. First, there's a written test. If you pass that, you go on to the background check. Pass that, and you'll do the physical abilities test. After that, it's the polygraph exam. If you make it through that, you'll have your panel interview. Pass the interview, and you'll have a medical exam and psychological evaluation. Then your name goes on an eligibility list. They pick from this list when a new academy starts up. I think people are ranked on the list, with the most qualified at the top getting chosen first.

It was my first interview, and I felt really good about it. I was asked a lot of questions about my previous jobs and why I wanted this particular position. The police officer who interviewed me wanted me to be totally honest and act professionally. We also discussed my schoolwork and general life experiences. I was confident going in, and I ended up getting the job.
