First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Lantern Community Services.
Shift Supervisor
The hiring process was pretty straightforward and speedy. I had my interview just a few days after we initially connected. They actually called me back only two days after I submitted my application. I spoke with two interviewers, and the actual interview part lasted around 20 minutes once I was in the room, although I did have to wait quite a bit before that.
- Are you available to work overtime hours?
Procurement Operations Manager
Applied for manager but interviewed for coordinator role since HR said I wasn't qualified. Still went through with interviews with 4 upper management staff and got the manager offer. 3 references checked, background check and fingerprinting done. Kept in touch with senior HR about orientation. Had questions about the final offer letter regarding work hours and in-office vs hybrid policy, reached out to HR. Offer was rescinded the day before I was supposed to start. No reply or feedback after follow-up email, it's been a week. Be careful everyone, hope my comment is helpful.
- What makes you interested in this position?
- Could you introduce yourself?
- Can you provide specific examples from your resume demonstrating over 5 years of experience with relevant skillsets?
Case Manager
I interviewed in February 2022 and it was a bad experience. They asked me questions that seemed designed to trip me up. They mentioned that the job would involve assisting in the cafeteria and forming clubs, which seemed irrelevant for a case manager position. I was not offered the job. I sent a thank you and a follow-up email a few weeks later but was ghosted. It was a waste of time. They shouldn't contact references before an interview and then reject the candidate.
- Describe a time you dealt with a difficult client and explain how you resolved the situation.
Administrative Assistant
I got a call asking about my basic qualifications and heard back a week later about an in-person interview from a different recruiter. Had two interviews back to back the next week, both seemed somewhat unprepared, but I was also mistakenly sent upstairs early by security. Both interviewers indicated they were impressed and said they would be seeing me again soon, I sent polite thank you emails after, and then I received an automatically generated email from HR the next day that I had been rejected. I am grateful for the opportunity, however I wish there had been more clear communication. One interviewer was visibly taken aback when I asked if she had any reservations about my experience that I could clear up. She was just utterly shocked and asked “why should I?” This may have been my fatal error, so I do not recommend addressing your weaknesses or concerns with the interviewer, they are simply not interested.
- Have you previously worked with the mentally ill population?
- Can you share an experience where you dealt with unruly customers or clients?
