The process is super long and kinda overkill. First, I chatted with the Hiring Manager. Then, I talked to a Director. Finally, I had a chat with an HR rep. They really make you feel important and talk up how much they like open feedback and communication. But when it's time to actually do something about it, it's radio silence. You just get an automated rejection with no follow-up.

I started by applying online through Seek, where I uploaded my resume and a cover letter detailing my bartending background. A few days later, HR called me for a quick chat to go over my availability, past jobs, and why I wanted to work at the Langham. Then, I went to the hotel for an in-person interview with both HR and the Food and Beverage Lead. We talked a lot about my previous jobs, how I deal with customers, and what I do when things get hectic. They also asked about my cocktail knowledge and bar management ideas. For the practical part, I had to make two classic cocktails right at the bar, showing my skills, speed, and how I present drinks, plus keeping the bar clean and tidy. They said they'd let me know their decision within a week and were really professional and made me feel comfortable.

I got called in about a week after I applied online. When I got there, I had to fill out another application before going to an office for the interview. The interviewer was nice and made it a chill conversation. I was still kinda nervous 'cause I'd never interviewed in an office before. The whole thing took like 20-30 minutes, but I spent a lot of time filling out the application and waiting around before and after the interview. I'm waiting for a second interview because the person who was supposed to interview me next wasn't available, but I'm still expecting a call back for that second interview.
