First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Lane Construction.
Field Engineer
Had an informal chat that mostly focused on my past experience. I got pushed to the interview phase because a recruiter saw relevant past internship experience on my resume. The whole experience was pretty casual and felt easy.
- What did you find most valuable about your internship at XXX?
Analyst
This was one of the most terrible interview processes I've ever experienced. It started off really fast, with a recruiter screen and then a call with the hiring manager the very next day. After that, I was told there might be an interview with the department head. That interview didn't go great; they took another call in the middle of our interview and had me wait on mute while they talked to someone else. Plus, I took time off my current job for this, and it felt super unprofessional. They said I'd hear back the following week. I didn't, and when I followed up with the recruiter, I was told I'd know by the end of that week. Two weeks later, still no word. Really unprofessional.
- What is your understanding of our company?
Manager
The interview process was a 2 step thing, and it was pretty well put together and covered everything. First up was a 30-minute phone chat with the hiring manager, mostly to go over the resume stuff. Then, the second interview was at the main office and had four separate one-on-one meetings, each at least 30 minutes long. I talked to the hiring manager, the HR manager, the hiring manager's boss, and someone who works with the hiring manager. They all seemed to know their stuff about the job, and I figure the main point of all those different chats was to see if I'd fit in with the team.
- How would you go about learning our company's methods and processes?
Cost Controller
So the whole hiring thing had 3 parts. First up was an intro chat with HR about me, my background, and what I've done. Then, I had a technical interview with some managers where they checked out my professional skills. Lastly, I talked to the Project Manager about the day-to-day stuff and how the team works together.
