First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Land O'Lakes.
Human Resources Business Partner
The interview was conversational and really kind and thoughtful. They asked about my experience and interests. We agreed it wasn’t the right position once we discussed it, but they took the time to ask about other positions and better fits. It definitely went beyond what I expected!
- Can you share your general experience?
- What about your past positions?
- And what are your interests?
Intern
It was a super smooth experience, basically just one interview with two managers. They asked all behavioral questions, like about my past experiences and how I'd handle stuff. It felt pretty professional but also chill, and the managers were really into the chat and easy to talk to. Everything happened fast, and I got an offer really quickly, just two days later. That showed me they're quick to decide and really care about getting things done fast.
- Can you share an instance where you faced a novel and unexpected challenge, and describe the innovative approaches you took to overcome it?
Senior Software Engineer
Screening: HR/recruiter reviews resumes, portfolios, and applications. Looking for basic criteria like education, experience, tech skills, and minimum requirements. Initial contact is via email or call to confirm interest, clarify points, and schedule an interview. A screening interview (phone/video) checks cultural fit, essential skills, and salary expectations. Technical/Behavioral Interviews: First round involves a deeper dive into experiences, technical skills, and soft skills. Practical tests might be included, like exercises, case studies, simulations, or technical exams. Then, an interview with the manager assesses team fit and understanding of role challenges. Final Interview/Panel: Leaders or directors might join to confirm the choice. Expect discussions about company culture, values, and growth expectations, along with more strategic or situational questions. Final Stages: Reference checks (calling ex-managers/colleagues). A job offer with salary, benefits, and conditions. Final negotiations if needed. Contract signing or acceptance confirmation.
- Tell me about a professional challenge you faced and how you handled it.
