& Process

The recruiter had audio issues, sounding like she was outside. She asked for a quick rundown of my experience. Then she asked about the largest number of pages I'd managed. She immediately said I didn't seem qualified but wanted to continue. She then asked about a complex issue I'd faced. I mentioned coordinating between 3 tech stacks on one domain to ensure data accuracy. She dismissed it as a webdev issue, not SEO. I explained the need for accuracy across systems, and she changed the subject. I felt she'd already decided I wasn't qualified early on. Recruiters need better communication skills and handling of questions. She never followed up, and her initial assumptions suggested a very short interview. Lamps Plus needs to train their recruiters on how to handle interviews better.

I got a call from a recruiter about a job at LAMPS plus. First, I did an online Codepen exercise that focused on CSS and layout, which was easy. They liked it and wanted me to come in person for an interview, but they didn't mention another test, so I didn't prepare for one. The interviewer took me to their cafeteria for about 30 minutes, then he started texting and taking calls, which was awkward. He then showed me the dev team, and I was shocked to see how cramped they were, even the dev manager shared a cubicle. It was a very uncomfortable environment. He then pulled people out to interview me. We went to a boardroom, and instead of a formal interview, they turned on a TV and had me do another Codepen challenge using a wireless keyboard from across the room. It involved API calls, which wasn't directly related to front-end UI, but I had experience. The task was to fix a broken object and animate the response. It was very uncomfortable sitting sideways and trying to see the TV, and my neck started hurting. I realized this was not a place I wanted to work, especially seeing the uncomfortable setup for everyone. I told them I couldn't continue because I was feeling too uncomfortable, and one person seemed angry. I left and wouldn't go back.

They are as pathetic and unprofessional as all the reviews here tells you. I raised this concern to my recruiter and he said “oh no, it’s a good company and I never heard any complain blah blah”. In reality, I had 2 technical interviews with them including a coding assignment and I performed so well in those interview and was hopeful that I’ll be receiving the HR call follow by an Offer but they never got back to me. On inquiring, my recruiter said “they will be passing this time”. I asked about the feedback that where did I went wrong and no one ever replied back to me. Pathetic Interview Process.

The interview process was pretty simple. They started with basic questions and asked about my ability to multitask in previous roles. The main goal of the interview seemed to be assessing if I could hold a relevant conversation. If they were interested, I'd proceed to a security check. After that, they'd ask more questions. If I passed those, I'd get hired.
