First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Lamar Johnson Collaborative.
Intern
The interview process was pretty straightforward. It had three main parts: first, a call with a recruiter, and then a video interview with some principals. I got an offer about two weeks later.
- Can you walk me through one or two projects in your portfolio?
- What do you expect from this Summer internship?
Design Staff
The interview process consisted of 2 rounds. Initially, you'll introduce yourself, followed by a portfolio review showcasing two of your student projects. They will also ask about your 5-year career plan and your willingness to relocate to St. Louis. Additionally, they will provide background information about LJC and ask why you're interested in joining the company.
- What are your career aspirations for the next five years?
- Would you be open to relocating to St. Louis?
Architectural Designer
Started with a quick chat with a recruiter. Then had three separate 30-minute chats with the team about the work. Two chats had 2 team members and one was one on one. It was pretty chill and they were super nice.
- Can you describe your involvement in the projects?
- Please discuss your portfolio.
- What was your role on the projects featured in your portfolio?
Workplace Analyst
So I had a few interviews for this role. It started with two phone calls, then they had me come in for an in-person interview. After that, the manager from the St. Louis team sent me an email listing all the things she thought were wrong with me. It was super unprofessional and not at all the 'chill boss' vibe she was going for. Made it seem like I'd end up working for a real dictator.
- Could you share details about your previous work experience?
- What is your understanding of the responsibilities associated with this position?
- What are your hobbies or leisure activities outside of work?
