First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at LakePharma.
Quality Control Bioassay Manager
I had a phone screening first, then an onsite interview with the management and the QC team. It went really well and I got a job offer. However, they downgraded the position from Senior Manager to Manager to cut costs, so I declined.
- Can you elaborate on your previous work experiences?
- Could you describe your skills in managing a team?
- Tell me about a time when you faced a challenging situation at work.
Associate Scientist
We started with a chat with HR over the phone, then I went in person to meet the hiring manager. After that, there was a second in-person meeting with the rest of the crew I'd be joining. During this second meeting, they had me do a quick PCR to check my gene lab skills and see if I could handle basic unit conversions. Overall, it was a pretty chill interview.
- What are your long-term career aspirations?
- Could you describe your responsibilities in your previous role at x?
- Walk me through your experience with DNA Extractions, PCR, qPCR, Cloning, and Sequencing.
Associate Scientist
I put in my application on the website and after about two weeks, I got a call from the hiring manager. Then, I was sent an email inviting me to an in-person interview with 8 people, including some directors and scientists. Each interview with them was about 15 minutes long.
- Are you able to work during nights and weekends?
- What challenges do you face when conducting research?
- Describe your experience working in a team.
Manager
Phone/web meetings due to pandemic, prescreen, then meetings with each team member and lead manager. Gave me a chance to get to know several different people. Came onsite for final interview to meet leadership team face to face.
- What can I contribute to the team?
- What are my strengths?
- What motivates me?
