I won't really get into the hiring and interview process, as it is similar to any other company and would like to avoid that redundancy. I would like to say that while everyone I talked to seemed fairly nice, I just got the feeling that these people were not excited at all about their jobs. Through the interview process it became apparent that this company wasn't necessarily focused on hiring the best, most qualified people for the open positions. With the economy the way it is today this seems to be more common as companies try to cut costs and potential employees are less adamant about their salary/benefit demands.
- How would you deal with a specific scenario if it came up?
Software Engineer
I applied for the job online. I got a response quickly asking me to fill out more info. It took about a month to hear back about interviews. The first interview was a quick call with HR to talk about the company and my goals. The next week, I had another phone interview, this time with the hiring manager and the same HR person. I thought it would be technical, but the hiring manager wasn't an engineer. They explained the product well, but I had trouble explaining how my experience fit without using technical terms. They said I'd get a technical interview later, but it never happened. A few weeks after that, I found out they'd already hired someone. I wish I'd been better at explaining my skills in a non-technical way, as I think I missed out on a chance for a technical interview.
- What are your 3-5 year professional goals?
Electrical Engineer
The interview process was pretty standard. First, I had a phone screening with HR. After that went well, I was invited for an on-site interview. Unfortunately, the on-site interview didn't go so great because they asked me about some really basic concepts that I hadn't thought about since my first year of college.
- Can you explain Op-Amp concepts?
- What's the difference between BJTs and MOSFETs?
Mechanical Engineer Intern
The interview process involved an initial phone interview, followed by a more in-depth onsite interview. The focus was primarily on my past experiences. I met with two engineering managers and two mechanical engineers.
- Can you share an instance where you faced challenges working with a teammate?
