First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Lake|Flato.
Designer
The vibe was great. They wanted to get to know the team and see how I'd fit in. They care about culture just as much as talent! We talked about my experience and my hobbies too. They're looking for designers who are talented and have interests outside of architecture.
- What design problem-solving tools do you use?
Architectural Designer
It kicked off with some casual conversation, they were super nice and made me feel good. But honestly, I couldn't really tell what they were looking for. It would have been cool if they were more direct about what they wanted.
- Be prepared for what they are looking for.
- Be ready to talk about yourself.
Architect
So I applied online and then heard back maybe 2 to 3 months later. The first interview was with a Senior Architect/Studio Director. After that, there was a second interview with the team, and then the Studio Director and a Principal talked to me about the offer and salary. I didn't take the job because the offer wasn't what I wanted.
- Could you describe the scope of responsibilities you held in your past roles?
Intern
The people were really nice and friendly. It was just a few questions about my projects and how I work with others since teamwork is a big deal here. They also gave a quick intro to the office.
- Can you walk me through your portfolio and the projects within it?
- Describe your experience collaborating with others in a team setting.
