Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Laing O'Rourke.
Intern
The interview was pretty laid-back and felt like a chat. We talked about the job I applied for and they told me about the team and the project. They asked me about my career plans and what motivates me, plus my experience and skills.
- What led you to pursue your current degree, and what about this position appeals to you?
- Could you explain your motivations for applying to this role and your educational background?
Industrial Placement
The whole process took about 4 to 5 months and had 4 stages. It started with an online assessment. Then there was a recorded video interview where I had to answer 5 questions. After that, I had a one-on-one video interview.
- Can you tell me why you want to join our company?
Industrial Placement Student
It was a long and intense process, starting with an initial screening, then aptitude tests, followed by an online interview screening, and finally a live interview. The tests were challenging and required quick thinking. The final interview was surprisingly relaxed and the easiest part.
- What are your basic qualifications?
- Can you elaborate on your previous experiences based on your answers?
