Customer Success Advocate
After I got through the initial phone screen with HR, there was a Zoom interview with a manager. After that, an in-person interview with some other team members and a tour of the facilities. The time gap between the Zoom interview and the in-person meeting was longer than I expected (about three weeks), but I was told this wasn't the norm.

Project Manager
The first phone screen felt off. The interviewer spent a lot of time talking about company stuff that didn't seem to connect to the actual role. When I asked about the company culture, her response was basically, 'The Chicago office gets to wear jeans like every other week!' That kind of answer from a recruiter is a big red flag for me. She mentioned she was just calling to confirm I wanted to proceed to the next round, which I did just to see what the actual team was like. The second interview confirmed my suspicion that this is a very traditional company, not really keeping up with current workplace trends. When I asked about culture and work-life balance, they didn't seem to grasp the distinction and just emphasized how diverse their team is, like a 'mini UN.' It was quite peculiar.
- Can you discuss your previous work experience?
Tech Support
The hiring manager called for the first interview and immediately questioned the relevance of my experience. I had to really sell myself. During the second interview, they asked about a start date, and I explained I wouldn't know until a specific time, but the hiring manager scheduled me for two weeks out anyway, not listening to me. I got to the offer, which was a lowball offer, not matching the ad. I countered, and they accepted. After the background check, we revisited the start date. I asked for some time off before starting due to working through the pandemic for over a year and a half. The hiring manager reacted negatively, calling me inconsistent and referencing an agreed-upon timeframe that was never discussed. Because of this misunderstanding, they rescinded the offer, which I suspect was because I counteroffered their lowball offer and they were looking for a reason not to hire me.
- What CRM software have you used before?
