Consultant
I had several interviews and everyone was really nice. They offered me a position at the very bottom of my expected salary range, and then made me feel bad when I accepted a different job.
- Tell me about your understanding of this market.
Consultant
Had a phone screen first, basically to check my skills in .Net, CS basics, and advanced threading/performance stuff. It felt more like a skill check than an interview. Then, I went in for in-person interviews. There were three focused on core skills and two more on soft skills. The first was about OO design, testability, and refactoring. The second was a system design task, looking at UI and server parts, specifically with streaming and fast data. The third covered consulting skills and project management, like Agile, teamwork, and handling tough situations. Then, two softer interviews: one with directors about personality and fit, and another with HR about my interest and availability. Got an offer by email after that.
- Regarding the freachable queue, what can you tell me?
Consultant
A recruiter reached out to me and immediately gave me a quick multiple-choice quiz on Java, covering basic concepts and some specific details about garbage collection. Following that, I had a one-hour phone interview with who I think was the hiring engineer. He seemed a bit surprised by my resume at first. The interview was mostly technical, beginning with easy Java questions and then moving into the Spring framework (which I hadn't used) and unit testing/mocking tools. There were also questions about my problem-solving approach and how I work in teams.
- How would you handle updating a mock when the component it's mocking changes?
