First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at LA Family Housing.

First, there was a phone screen. Then, I had an in-person interview with three managers in a boardroom. The questions were pretty basic and not really about case management, more about general work stuff.
- Can you describe how you collaborate with others?
- What's your approach to handling conflict?
Internal Communications Manager
The interview process was pretty straightforward. First, a screening call with HR for about 25 minutes, checking in to learn more about my experience, what interested me about LAFH, and see if I met basic qualifications. This person wasn't the direct hiring manager, so I asked thoughtful questions about the role that they didn't know too much about, so we chatted about their experience at the company and what it was like. Then, a 2nd interview via Zoom with the hiring manager and their director where they asked me specific questions about my experience, behavioral questions, and picked my brain about my workflow on some specific projects from my portfolio. The 3rd interview was in-person and roundtable style with 4 people (2 from my department and 2 from another department that works closely with them). It was pretty similar to the 2nd interview and felt like they wanted fresh eyes on the finalist and to see how they would interact and get along with the wider team.
- How do you approach storytelling for a diverse audience?
Participant Coordinator
The interview process was pretty chill and all done online as a group interview. There were 2 interviewers and 3 of us interviewing. The interviewers were really nice, and the questions seemed pretty standard for the role. It was mostly situational questions. I'm not personally a big fan of group interviews, but it was a super laid-back vibe. They asked some initial questions to everyone, and we each got a turn to answer. Then, we each received different situational questions.
- What's your take on the housing first model?
Individual Giving Manager
I had one Zoom interview with the head of the Development department. It was about forty-five minutes to an hour long. I didn't get a second interview, so I can't say anything about that.
- The questions were about the job I applied for, not generic HR questions like 'Tell me about a challenge you've faced and how you overcame it.' It was pretty laid-back and not too structured.
