First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at L7 Creative Communications.
Client Services
I emailed back and forth with them, and then we did a Skype chat since I was out of town. I ended up talking to an account manager who would later be my supervisor for the internship.
- Why are you interested in L7 Creative?
Account Service Assistant
I interviewed here and the process was pretty standard. The account exec who first reached out was super nice, and I felt like management was cool too. The questions they asked didn't feel weird, just pretty regular stuff. I had three interviews: one phone chat, then one with some of the junior team, and finally one with the higher-ups.
- The questions were all pretty basic, nothing tricky.
- No curveballs were thrown my way.
Intern
I sent in an Internship Inquiry with a cover letter and resume to careers@l7creative.com. Nikki Hess contacted me shortly after, scheduling a phone interview since I wasn't in CA at the time. The interview was pretty standard and casual. Nikki was friendly and answered my questions. I was offered the internship during the interview. Nikki was accommodating with scheduling my hours when I returned from school to begin the internship.
No confirmed questions were included in this interview report.
Account Manager
The interview process here is very lengthy. I was told I would be getting my dream job: high caliber clients, great teammates, a supportive management group with room to grow. During the interview, some red flags appeared. I learned that HR is the wife of the owner, which means there will be no unbiased party in conflicts, and likely no confidentiality. She also doubles as their financial director, payroll processor and benefits coordinator. I was asked questions such as if I had children, which would affect my ability to do my job or work long hours. When the offer was provided to me, and I countered with an offer to match my current salary, I was subjected to a 2+ hour debate with the owner, who argued with me, trying to sell me on the other benefits of the job and lied to me about the legalities of needing to provide proof of my salary history with other organizations in order for my request to be considered. Thankfully, after this conversation I reached out to respected industry leaders about my concerns and learned the truth about this company. It has a reputation for unethical behavior, high turnover, financial irresponsibility, and micromanaging. My advice is trust your gut instincts and do your homework. Research the company you're interviewing with, get independent opinions, and talk to current/past employees (if you can).
- Do you have anything like children that would pose a problem for you to work the hours necessary for this position?
