Tutor
It was a lighthearted and fun conversation! The boss was very polite and informative about the position and explained a lot about the structure and students. Once I got the job, I created a classroom environment that was engaging and interactive, sparking students' enthusiasm for learning. I made sure to adjust my teaching methods to fit individual learning styles, which helped build a strong interest and participation in the subjects.
- Could you try spelling out phonics?
Tutor
so basically when i applied for kumon, it was pretty easy but they checked everything. first i did this online thing, then a quick call where they asked if i was free, if i liked kids, and knew how kumon works. after that, i went in for a chat at the center with the boss, who asked stuff about dealing with students, grading papers, and keeping things on track. sometimes they gave a small test for math and english stuff. the last thing was a little training so i could see how things go and if i'd fit in. the whole thing was pretty smooth, just making sure i could help kids and stick to kumon's way of teaching.
- What's your approach if a student is finding something hard and getting upset?
- And what if a student finishes early and asks for more, what would you tell them?
- How would you handle a kid who doesn't want to do their assignment?
Tutor
I applied to be a tutor at Kumon, and was happy when the director emailed to set up a quick phone chat. She asked about when I could work, my education, and if I'd worked with kids before. Then I went in for an in-person chat, where I did a little math test and answered questions about helping students who were finding it tough. After that, the director showed me around, told me about how Kumon teaches, and explained what happens next with getting started.
