Assistant Manager
Applied online via LinkedIn and I was scheduled for a screening interview. The hiring manager wasn't very personable, talked about the store opening date being not for a while as it was a new location. I think the whole process is a huge disconnect as a candidate with experience and capable of performing the job requirements why not explore a candidate's background further? Why lead them on that maybe you might be considered and then not follow up? That a candidate has to inquire after. Being left to wonder what's going on?? And after inquiring and asking to schedule an appointment on an electronic calendar then to schedule and only to cancel two minutes after waiting for the interviewer to answer the Zoom call is so unprofessional and crazy! Who does that?? At least talk to the person and... lead them on and then send a follow-up letter that you didn't make the cut! Don't ghost and let a candidate re-prepare for two days and cancel the second interview as the person is sitting in the Zoom waiting room and then send a follow-up email 15 minutes later you didn't make the cut bla...bla...it's crazy who does that to another person?????? Such a waste of time and energy. The messed-up part in the email I received was for a position that I already applied to, they already said they were not going to move forward with me?? If that makes sense? The messages that I should have received should have been for the ASM role but it was actually for a different role, I was so confused. During my first interview, we didn't even discuss store manager expectations or duties so why am I receiving an email that says I applied and how much he enjoyed learning about my background and meeting me and that they are not moving forward with me?? Sure, it was nice that they even took the time to write me but the order in which it was done was so unprofessional and sad for a brand that supports inclusion and engagement.
- What is your interest in this brand and what specifically draws you to it?
Director of Operations
The interview process had several red flags. A major one was that the company stated they 'haven't found what they are looking for yet' even though the role has been open for months. I first spoke with the recruiter, who was quite late and seemed overwhelmed. The next interview was with the VP of 'In Person,' but she was on her phone the whole time. I had to repeat all my questions, and she didn't seem to grasp how retailing actually works.
- What programs do you use?
Social Media
A recruiter reached out to me on LinkedIn, and we had a Zoom call. Then, I interviewed with the VP of Brand Marketing, which I felt went well, even though I was nervous. After that, communication stopped. I tried reaching out via email three times for an update, but received no response. I even contacted the recruiter on LinkedIn chat, still nothing. It's disrespectful to ghost applicants who are interested in your brand and to burn bridges like that. After reading reviews, I feel like I dodged a bullet.
- Can you walk us through your process for creating a monthly social media calendar?
Junior Interior Designer
I got an email to set up a phone chat. I had picked a date a week later but could interview sooner and they were really flexible. The phone interview was pretty laid back and the person was super nice. They explained the company and the role really clearly, and the questions they asked were good and directly related to the job. When I asked my questions, they were really receptive and made me feel like they were important.
- Can you explain how you'd align your personal design style with our brand?
- What steps would you take to integrate your design aesthetic with our brand identity?
