The recruiter sent a big list of potential topics like SQL/Python, ETL, code optimization, and product metrics, mentioning no live coding. I studied these areas, but only about 10% showed up in the interview (product metrics and SQL). During the interview, I realized the role wasn't what I expected. I struggled to understand the interviewers and felt we weren't on the same page, even after asking for clarification. The interviewer then asked me to live code, which I couldn't do on my work computer due to privacy. Even though it was a medium-difficulty interview, I decided not to continue because I felt the prep was a waste of time. The company seems directionally uncertain nearing its IPO, making it a potentially awkward time to join. The take-home assignment apparently takes 24 hours of work.

Behavioral Technical Case

So, I had this interview, which was honestly the worst experience ever and a complete waste of my time. It started with an HR interview, which was pretty standard and nice. After that, I had a fit-technical interview with the data analyst manager. They asked some technical questions about typical analytical scenarios, which were fine. But then things got weird. HR told me I could move on and sent me this case study to do at home. I'm not going to get into the details, but it was ridiculously hard and incredibly long to do properly. I spent days on it and sent it back to HR to confirm they got it. No response for two days, so I checked again if they received my case study, still no reply. Then, I got a brief email saying they had already filled the position a few days prior. It felt really disrespectful and unprofessional.

Technical Presentation

The interview process is tough but fair, and everyone was really nice and professional. It's a long process, with a take home assignment, but it gives you a real sense of the kind of data and analysis you'd be doing, and the follow-up questions are relevant and make a lot of sense. Totally worth the effort.
