First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Korn Ferry.
Director
I had three conversations with Korn Ferry employees before speaking to the client. The first was a brag session about Korn Ferry. The second was presented as a chat with a senior staff member, and the third was with the consultant for the company I was interviewing with. After the phone interview, I had to create a 5-page strategy document outlining my first-year plan. I never heard back from Korn Ferry about my application status. It felt like an information gathering exercise for them. They might use the strategy docs to create their own consulting solutions. Be careful, they waste time and are unresponsive. They even sent me interview times twice for the same day they emailed me.
- Could you create a five-page strategy document detailing your first-year plan for the role?
Director
The interview scheduling was difficult; my availability was ignored a few times, and they scheduled interviews at times I couldn't make it before we finally found a suitable time. The first phone screen was a bad sign because the job description I had and what the interviewer was looking for were totally different. I applied for a role in futuresteps and the executive search group, but the focus of the job spec changed to exclusively include the Hay Group. When I pointed this out, I was told I was mistaken, even though I had the original spec/job details. After that, things only got worse. The call itself was okay, but the recruiter didn't really seem to understand my background. It felt like trying to explain my job to a very young child who barely understands language. In the end, I heard nothing back and received no feedback at all. This was probably the most unprofessional interview process I've ever experienced.
- Tell me about a time using the STAR method.
Director
All interviews with KF staff were done remotely. Then, the second round interviews were onsite with the client. You're specifically picked for a client. If the client leaves, your role does too.
- Can you share something about yourself that isn't on your resume?
