First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Kootenai Health.
Certified Nursing Assistant
The interview process was great, with good questions and communication from management. It only took thirty minutes and I felt comfortable. They asked about my previous experience, what qualities I bring to a team, and how I navigate working in a fast paced environment. HR took a while to extend an offer, but it was okay waiting.
- What qualities make you stand out on a team?
Network Engineer
I applied online and got a call about a job I applied for. They wanted to interview me on Friday, the same day they were hoping to hire someone. I was a minute or two late because I was getting my suit ready in the parking lot. When I got to the reception area, the receptionist said I had just walked in. It was a panel interview with four people: the person who scheduled it and three people who introduced themselves as my co-workers. We discussed HR and job-related questions. I'm a software developer, so I don't have direct Network Engineer experience, but I tried my best to talk about the job. I asked them technical questions about the job and the problems they face. I think I misunderstood the interview's nature; their answers to my job-specific questions were vague. It seemed like they were avoiding giving me details about the position. I eventually found out that the job didn't require software development skills and that my interviewers might not be familiar with writing software. A lot of the technical part focused on my lack of experience in this role at previous jobs. I got frustrated. At the end, I asked my 'co-workers' as many technical questions as I could about software implementation, like database replication and failure modes, but they couldn't answer. I felt like they set me up to fail.
- What experience do you have as a Network Engineer?
CT Technologist
I applied online and was contacted for an interview about three weeks later. The first interview was a panel with the manager and four employees from different departments, not CT techs. The manager mentioned they asked standard behavioral questions like strengths/weaknesses and how I handled difficult patient and coworker situations. After the interview, I was told to expect a call the following week, but didn't receive one. HR explained the recruiter was out. I was then asked to 'job-shadow' to see if the department was a good fit for me. I found out there were at least two other candidates. The manager said I'd hear back the next Tuesday, but again, no call. Finally, the recruiter called on Wednesday to say I didn't get the position.
- What do your previous supervisors think of you?
Barista
If you used to work at Kootenai and want to come back, don't bother. You'll get an interview and think everything is good and they want you back by asking your availability, but they will just ghost you and treat you like you are in the wrong for leaving in the first place. There are better places out there.
- What are your availability options for the part-time shift?
- Which days are most suitable for you?
