First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Konami Digital Entertainment.
Associate Producer
First I got a bunch of written questions that I had to answer and send back to HR. They liked what they saw and invited me to an interview at their office in Tokyo Midtown, Roppongi. There, I took a test in Japanese, which was tough because my Japanese was only N5 level back then, and I messed up some tricky questions. Even though I struggled, I managed to do the whole interview in Japanese but switched to English at the end to prove I knew at least one of the languages needed for the job. In the end, they offered me a job at Kojima Productions in LA, but I didn't want to move back to the US, so I turned it down.
No confirmed questions were included in this interview report.
Marketing
I got a call from HR who asked me a few questions, and then they asked me to come in for an in-person interview. The HR person seemed unprofessional and out of touch with North American business practices, especially the interview process. They were just staring at their screen and typing, and couldn't even hold a conversation!
- Can you tell me about yourself?
- What are your strengths and weaknesses?
- Why are you interested in this role?
Administrator
I applied and heard back from a recruiter within a week to schedule an on-site interview. I then met with an HR person and a manager for about 40 minutes total. They mentioned the next step would have been a final one-on-one interview with the head of the division.
- Are you open to relocating internationally?
- Describe your perception of our company.
- What are your favorite games?
QA Tester
I met with a former colleague from Take Two Interactive, who is now a QA Supervisor. We didn't know each other well previously but had worked together briefly. He remembered me and was professional and kind. He liked my experience but had issues with my resume's design and layout, though he felt I met all their needs. He hired me despite the resume issue. I also met the other QA Supervisor, who was quiet but nice and professional.
- The interviewer expressed dissatisfaction with the resume's layout.
- The interviewer did not like the design of my resume.
