First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Komatsu.
Design Engineer
First, I had an interview with HR over the phone, then a written test that covered basic physics. After that, I had to draw a structure on a whiteboard and explain its mechanism. Finally, I interviewed with users.
- Tell me about your basic knowledge in heavy equipment.
- Could you draw a structure on the whiteboard?
- Can you briefly explain the mechanism of the structure you drew?
Platform Security Analyst
The interview process was pretty straightforward. The only annoying part was having to go on-site for the final interviews, only to find out they picked someone else. It was also a bit weird to have one of the on-site interviews conducted over Teams. Honestly, it felt like that panel interview could have been done remotely. I also think they should have included an actual technical part to really gauge my skills.
- Can you explain the process of securing an application?
Project Manager
The interview process was pretty unprofessional. I had a phone screening and then an interview with the hiring manager, which were both pretty standard. After that, they invited me for an onsite interview. But then they cancelled it the day before it was supposed to happen and said they'd reschedule for the next week. Instead of actually rescheduling, they just removed me from consideration. It really seemed like they didn't know what was going on.
- Can you describe a situation where a project went over budget and fell behind schedule, and detail how you brought it back on track?
Cost Accountant
It started with a quick phone screen, then I had a call with the hiring manager to go over the job details and my background more. The in-person part had three interviews back-to-back with HR, the hiring manager, and the department manager, each lasting about 30 minutes. They asked a mix of general interview questions and questions about specific skills and experiences for the role. It was a good experience overall, and I learned more about the company culture and what the daily tasks involve.
- Can you introduce yourself?
- Describe a time you had a disagreement with a coworker.
- There might be a question about specific job experience from your resume.
