First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Kohl's.
Sales Lead
The first interview seemed to go okay, but then the manager realized they were interviewing me for the wrong position and didn't have info on pay. I left feeling uncertain. The next day, a different manager interviewed me, and it went really well. They indicated I should expect a call soon. I then got a text offer, but it was for an entry-level role I didn't apply for. I couldn't reach either manager. After trying again, I was told they went with someone else. I was really annoyed that they didn't explain why I didn't get the job or even call me, just expected me to figure it out that the offer was for a different role. It felt like a complete waste of my time and very unprofessional. Glad I won't be working there.
- What's your approach to organizing your tasks and managing your time?
Sales Supervisor
I chatted with the Assistant Store Manager who asked me questions about my past jobs and typical interview questions like, "Tell me about a time you handled a tough coworker" or "Tell me about a time you faced an ethical dilemma and how you handled it." The Assistant Store Manager then told me to come back the next day to talk with the Store Manager about the job. I met with the Store Manager and we talked about my work history and my interest in working at Kohl's. She rang me the day after that to talk about pay.
- Could you share an instance where you managed a difficult coworker and how you approached the situation?
- Can you describe a situation from a previous job involving an ethical issue and the steps you took?
- What motivates you to want to work for Kohl's?
Sales Representative
My interview was part of a group setting with 8 other people, which the interviewer mentioned was smaller than usual. So, expect a mass interview. The process was straightforward, but there wasn't much opportunity to share relevant experience. At the end, they asked about our position interests, and that was the only thing they took notes on.
- Tell me about your previous work experiences.
- Can you describe a time you handled a difficult customer?
- What specific roles are you interested in, such as sales floor, cashier, truck delivery, or makeup counter?
