SKODA has two internship application periods annually with a set deadline for submissions. Following my application, I was contacted by phone for an online meeting with an HR representative. This initial stage involved discussing my motivations for applying and elaborating on my past experiences.

It was a pretty straightforward process. They asked me questions about my schooling and my future career goals. The interview panel consisted of three people: the main manager and two engineers from the team. While there weren't any heavily technical questions, it's important to be ready to discuss your background and aspirations.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

First, they looked at my application and resume. Then there was an initial HR interview, followed by a technical interview. After that, I had behavioral and situational interviews, and then a final interview with senior management. They also gave me an assessment or practical task to complete. Finally, they made an offer and did a background check.

Technical Behavioral

The first round was okay, but it was a bit weird because I've had a lot of interviews for graduate positions before and this was the first time they asked about my bachelor thesis instead of behavioral questions. But then again, it was also my first time interviewing with a company in Czech Republic, so maybe that's just how they do things there. The main problem was after I got invited to the final round, where we set a date for the end of the month over the phone. I got a confirmation email after our call, but I didn't reply because we had literally just agreed on a date and I had confirmed I'd be there. A couple of weeks later, I got an email from HR asking if they should terminate my application because I hadn't confirmed my attendance for the final round. This was strange because it was the same person I spoke to on the phone, discussing which date I could come. Still, I replied the same day, confirming that the date was set and I would be coming. The next day, I got an automated message saying my application was terminated because I hadn't confirmed my attendance for the final round. I emailed the HR person right away, asking what the problem was since I had already confirmed twice that I was coming. I haven't heard back since. It might just be their way of communicating, to ghost candidates after they fail to meet the company's requirements. This used to be my dream graduate program, and now I'm actually glad it turned out this way because I can't imagine if I actually had problems working there, how HR would have handled it.
