Help Desk Support
I sent in an application online and then had an in-person interview. It was about 15 minutes long and two people took turns asking me questions. They even did a mock Help Desk phone call where they presented a tough problem and asked me how I'd deal with it.
- Can you solve some basic computer problems?
- How would you approach a difficult situation presented during a mock Help Desk phone call?
Assistant Professor
Started with a phone interview. Then, a two-day campus visit which included a teaching demo and a research talk for faculty and students. Also met with the dean, had lunch with students, and got a tour of the campus. Had lunch and dinner with the search committee, and then interviewed with the committee. Got another campus tour, specifically the library this time. Met with human resources as well. It was a friendly and laid-back environment with lots of interactions.
- Tell me about diversity.
- Do you have any questions regarding diversity?
Professor
The interview process at Awesome School was great, with a really nice environment. It spanned two full days where I met with various administrators. By the end, I really felt like I fit in with this wonderful community and could see myself calling this place home.
- Various stakeholders posed numerous questions.
Tutor
To become a writing tutor, you first need to take an advanced teaching writing class. This class is writing-intensive and can be quite challenging. If you manage to get an 'A' in the class, you then become eligible to apply for the writing tutor position.
- Why are you interested in this position?
