I submitted my resume online and then got sent a Word doc with some questions that seemed pretty unusual for a first-round fit assessment. They gave me specific instructions on how to save and send the document back (like file format, naming, etc.). There wasn't actually any phone call involved. The whole process felt a bit like an afterthought since they weren't using standard HR platforms or procedures. My impression was that it's a young startup needing funding, and their hiring process isn't quite polished yet. I sent in my answers and got rejected a few days later, but their intern offered feedback on my submission. That was a really nice and commendable thing to do, and I wish more companies did that. But since it's a startup and was a backup option for me, the feedback wasn't super valuable.

I had a couple of phone screens initially. Then, I met with President John Ballay, saw the office, and met some other employees. The interview process was better than I anticipated. John really helped me understand KS and the job, and I was impressed by how much he cared about making sure this was a good decision for me and that my family was on board too. That kind of genuine, family-first attitude for everyone's well-being is rare in interviews.

I had a great facetime chat with Nicole! She was really friendly and easy to talk to. Sadly, the timing didn't work out with an opening and my graduation, but I'll definitely be looking out for future opportunities.
