Welder
It was an easy interview, they asked basic questions about my work history, the type of welding experience I have, and professional references, etc. The interviewer was really nice and professional. The interview lasted about 15 to 30 minutes and they were ready right on time.
- What kind of welding experience do you have?
Contractor
It was a 3-step interview process. First, there was a call with their talent company. Then, I had an interview with 3 people who are my direct superiors and currently hold the same position. Finally, I met with upper executives I would be collaborating with.
- Can you walk me through your experience and resume?
- What is prompting your career change?
- In what ways do you see yourself contributing to our team?
Engineer
It was really tough to get in touch with anyone. After I applied, I got a call to set up an interview. It took a bunch of tries to actually connect with someone, even after leaving voicemails and emails over several days. After the interview, I never heard back, even though they said I'd get an update either way. They also never answered my emails or calls. I got to the interview 10 minutes early, but the receptionist didn't know who I was or why I was there. After that got sorted, I waited another 10 minutes for someone to come get me. They gave me a tour of the plant, and everyone was super nice. I interviewed with two different guys. So yeah, everyone was nice, but the communication was pretty bad. Overall, it felt unprofessional. Out of a lot of interviews, I've never felt so disregarded.
- Why do you think you're the best person for this role?
- Can you share an instance where you took initiative and completed a task without needing direct oversight?
Programmer
After a quick phone chat, I was invited for an in-person interview a couple days later. They took me out to lunch with three of my potential colleagues, which was pretty relaxed and casual. We talked about personality stuff, hobbies, my education, and just general small talk. Then, I had to answer six short, written questions focusing on logical reasoning. After that, I met with the CIO one-on-one. Next, there was a short whiteboard session where I had to outline how I'd design a database for a couple of different situations, with a panel of three people. Finally, I was asked some technical questions about Bootstrap.js and jQuery, and we discussed some of my past projects.
- Given three integers a, b, and c, write pseudo-code to return their sum, but if any two are equal, exclude one of the duplicates from the sum (e.g., if a==b, return a+c or b+c, but not a+b+c).
