Technical Coding

I had a 30-minute call with HR and the lead developer. They asked some questions about my previous work, but it wasn't too intense. After that, I was given a take-home assignment that was quite straightforward. I submitted my work and waited. A week later, I followed up with HR, who mentioned the lead was busy but an answer would come soon. Another week passed with no response. I then contacted the recruiter, who informed me I was rejected because my homework submission was considered very poor. My take is that even if the homework isn't perfect, candidates should have a chance to explain their approach.

The process had two rounds, happening closely together: - An introductory call to get a feel for soft skills. - A technical interview where a representative case was discussed. (No 'whiteboard coding' or brain teasers.) General insight and relevant knowledge are assessed.
