We start with your online application where you'll answer some motivation questions, not based on your CV, to get things rolling. If you pass that, you'll take some online tests, first an intelligence test, and if you do really well, then some personality tests. After that, there's a first interview, preferably at our Schiphol offices, mostly focusing on motivation and behavioral stuff. The final stage is an assessment day at the office, which includes a group activity, an individual activity, and a final interview. We'll also do a background check after that, and then hopefully, an offer!

Behavioral Technical Presentation

After the CV and cover letter stage, I had to complete an online aptitude test. This was followed by a first conversation with a recruiter, which was quite personal, focusing on me as a person. For example, they asked how my friends would describe me and who I look up to. After this, there was a half-day assessment. This included a one-hour meeting with the recruiter and someone from the assessment center, where they really dug into my leadership skills and how I'd deal with employee resistance. They also focused heavily on KLM's current situation, which I realized I hadn't researched enough for. There was also a role-play scenario where I was the manager and an actor played a dissatisfied employee, emphasizing collaboration among all staff. I didn't make it past the next full-day assessment round.

Behavioral Technical

First, there was a long and broad online aptitude test. After that, an initial meeting with two recruiters. The vacancy was broadly defined with a long list of desired qualities, but the conversation focused only on a few of them. Most questions were about leadership. The emphasis was 90% on the human aspect of driving a team and less on successfully providing substantive direction to a project. The interview felt mainly like a classic interrogation and less like a conversation.

  • How do you motivate? Take me through an example.
  • Where have you demonstrated leadership?
