First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at KLJ.
Design Engineer
I did my interview over the phone and through Skype. It was a relatively easy and quick process. I was hired directly for the Telecom department. Nowadays, they use an in-house recruiter to help with the hiring. It was a startup with headquarters located out of state.
- Can you describe your background?
- What software are you familiar with?
- Why did you leave your previous job?
Information Security Consultant
It was an incredible interview process. As a recent grad, their professionalism was a bit overwhelming. It started with a thorough phone interview with the whole team. Then, they flew me out for an in-person interview at their headquarters, covering my flight, hotel, and rental car since I live far away. I interviewed with the direct managers, and after that, the head of the department, John Nagel, gave me a tour of the facility. I also met the other new hire and chatted with him about the role and some of the job duties. John then took me to lunch where we talked more about me, my education, the job, and my concerns about relocating to North Dakota, which would be a big decision. They paid for my flight home and reimbursed all my expenses from the trip.
- What made you consider a job in Bismarck, North Dakota, when you saw it online?
Project Manager
First, a quick chat with the talent team. Then, a group interview with group leaders. They asked general questions about my experience and how I could contribute to their organization. The focus was heavily on clients and ensuring a good cultural fit.
- In what ways could you contribute to the expansion of our group?
Software Engineer
It was a standard zoom interview with two people. They asked all the typical questions and gave a brief overview of their work and the position. It was about half an hour. Trying to get to 30 words.
- Could you tell me about your biggest weakness?
