Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Klaviyo.

Started with HR screening, then a 1-hour interview with the hiring manager about my experience and motivations. After that, there was a 1-hour presentation stage where I did a mock kick-off call. Then, I had 3 separate 30-minute interviews with different managers, followed by the offer stage.

The interview process was really clear and concise. It seems like Klaviyo have really took the feedback from past candidate experiences and implemented a great interview process. I applied online, the first step was a phone screening with the recruiter. She gave great feedback and gave advice on what the hiring manager would be looking for. The next step was an interview with a manager from the department and a take home assignment. The next step was a 2 hour interview with various team members and management. I was super intimidated by a 2 hour interview, I thought it was going to be daunting and I thought I’d be drilled with questions for 2 hours straight, but it was the opposite. It felt like each person was trying to get to know me and they asked questions that would allow me to showcase my skills. There weren’t any “gotcha” questions or super tricky ones, just really thoughtful and analytical questions. Don’t be intimidated by the process. Just do your best and showcase your best work!
- Can you tell me about how you manage projects?
- What's your approach to dealing with unexpected delays?

The interview started with a quick 15-minute chat with the recruiter, though she actually called an hour before the scheduled time due to a mix-up with time zones. I asked to reschedule, but she said she couldn't fit me in again that week. Then, I had a 30-minute call with a manager. I double-checked the time with the recruiter, and she mentioned I'd called her personal number and that they prefer email communication. After that, there was a presentation round. I didn't get much feedback, but they said it was 'positive.' The next stage was an hour-long panel interview with three managers. They asked for my availability twice because the initial times I offered didn't work for the team. There were more time zone issues, as they expected me an hour earlier than the actual scheduled time. Following that, I had a call with another manager. During the call, she revealed she was the department manager, even though the recruiter had told me I'd be speaking with someone else. Unfortunately, I didn't get the job after this call, but they did ask if I'd be interested in a different role. They wanted to restart the whole process for that other position, and there would have been six more scheduled engagements. I emailed the recruiter to thank her and let her know I was withdrawing my application, but she never responded.
- Can you explain how you prioritize your daily tasks?
