Provider Success Manager
The interview process has three steps. First, there's an initial call with a recruiter to filter out candidates who aren't a good fit. Second, an in-person or video interview with the recruiter, the head of the arch collaborative team, and some senior PSMs. This round usually has typical experience-based questions. Third, a project interview. The recruiter will send a big slide deck with data, a case study, a summary of the arch collaborative guidebook, info on tracking progress, and a project outline. In this stage, you'll role-play as if you're already on the team. The same people from the second interview will be there, plus anyone else who can make it (I had 9-10 people in my presentation). After that, they'll either offer you the job or let you know they're not moving forward.
- Describe a time you made an error.
- Can you share an experience dealing with a dissatisfied customer?
Graphic Designer
I submitted my resume online and had a phone interview where they also asked for my online portfolio link. They asked about my past experience and some other questions like what I would do in certain situations if I disagreed with a client's design requests. It lasted less than an hour. Later, I got a call asking me to come in for an in-person interview and was emailed some text, data, and guidelines to create a mock report for the interview. I wasn't expecting a group interview, so I was surprised to see about 10 people there. We reviewed my mock design together, and I was asked why I chose specific design elements and chart types. I was asked pretty standard interview questions along with a few specialized ones from different people. The interviewer asked if I was married, which made me really nervous because it's illegal and I didn't know how my answer would impact their decision; I worried they might think I'd leave if I got married, or if I was already married, that I'd have a baby and leave. I also questioned if a male candidate would get the same question. Another person asked my age, which is also illegal. I didn't get the job offer.
- How would you handle a client's request that you disagreed with? Can you give an instance where this happened?
- What software are you experienced with? Have you worked with SVGs before?
- Tell me about a time you disagreed with a client's design request.
Software Engineer
I had a pretty bad experience interviewing here. Like, really bad. I was called in three times around the holidays, and each interview was about an hour long. The first two interviews were typical technical interviews where I had to code, but on the third one, they asked me some pretty sexist questions that had nothing to do with the job. For example, one question was if I preferred baking or cooking. I told them I wasn't very good at either, but they insisted I answer. I was initially really excited about interviewing, but after that last interview, I totally lost interest.
- some coding questions
- personality questions like if you prefer baking or cooking
Researcher
KLAS recruits at BYU Career fairs. I met them while at BYU. I sent them my resume. They do a phone screen first. Aferwards, they will have you take a Rembrandt exam to test your personality and aptitude. Then you have an interview with one of the research managers, the HR manager and perhaps the strategic operations director. The interview style is quasi-behavioral (but not scientifically so, like you'd find in true behavioral interview with a rating system etc). It is kind of informal, but don't let that put you off. Be professional and prepared to share concrete examples. Then you'll have an interview with the General Manager. He will want to find out your goals. If they get the sense you'll be gone in less than 2 years, you won't get hired. Hiring is really expensive for them, because of the really steep learning curve.
- What are your career goals and how does KLAS fit in them?
