First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Kinsa.
Customer Service Representative
The interview process was odd. It was conducted via Teams chat, with no video. It didn't feel legitimate. I tried to call the company to verify if this was their standard interview method, but they didn't provide a contact number.
- Can you state your average clerical speed?
Customer Service Representative
The interview was on Teams. I had some trouble verifying the legitimacy of the interview on LinkedIn, and felt it might be a scam. After some back and forth, I spoke with my potential supervisor who then offered me the position.
- What makes you the best candidate for this role?
Devops Engineer
A recruiter reached out on LinkedIn and I had a phone screen with them, which went fine. They were a bit confrontational, but not excessively so. The next step was an interview with the hiring manager and someone else from the team. That went well, and we discussed best practices and strategy, which I enjoyed. I mentioned that this role seemed to align with my goals, especially after being the sole person in my previous department, and that I was drawn to the company's mission. Later that week, the recruiter said they weren't moving forward because they thought I wanted something different from the role. I replied that I'd actually said the opposite in the interview. They said they'd get back to me, but I didn't hear anything for two weeks. By then, I'd accepted another offer, and after I told them, they finally responded. My main takeaway is that Kinsa has a good mission and business model, but they seem to lack engineering maturity and culture, and their communication and recruiting could be better.
- Why are you interested in working here, and can you describe your technical background?
- What is your technical background and why do you want to work here?
Software Engineer
Started with a recruiter call, then a Java-focused tech phone screen. After that, I had a take-home challenge that took a few hours. The next step was a 4-hour onsite interview. Everyone was really nice and the vibe was relaxed. I think I got positive feedback from most people. The recruiter emailed me with a verbal offer, but the next day, they rescinded it because of my GPA. Super disappointing and a total waste of time. They should have checked the GPA first. While everyone seemed nice, it ended up being a waste of my time.
