First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Kinney Group.
Engineer
So first, there were two phone calls with the recruiter, then a technical phone interview with an engineer. After that, I had a Skype call with someone in senior management. Once that went well, the recruiter and I talked about salary and benefits before they gave me a start date.
- Could you tell me about your previous work experience?
- What are your thoughts on developing content within Splunk to create marketable packaged applications for brand expansion?
Director, Recruiting
The interview process is generally three steps for most candidates. It starts with phone screen(s), then an in-person meeting with the hiring manager, and concludes with a final interview with several team members. The interviews are behavioral and assess both technical skills and how well a candidate fits with Kinney's culture.
- If you don't have a technical background, the hardest question you'll face is explaining what Kinney Group does. Make sure to research this beforehand, as failing to answer it correctly can lead to immediate disqualification.
Sales
Found Kinney at a college career fair. After sending my resume, they contacted me to apply for an interview. The first interview was pretty standard, mostly behavioral with some sales stuff mixed in. About a month later, I got called for a second round. This interview involved giving a presentation to the Kinney leadership. I had to pick an organization and research a disruptive tech in its industry. The topic wasn't really about Kinney, it was more about seeing how I present to company leaders. There were 5 other people presenting our organizations to the team. It was chill and they focused on teaching us what companies want in presentations, not on stressing us out. We got lunch and gift cards for gas afterwards. We wrapped up the day chatting with 2 leaders in a relaxed interview.
- Given the presentation, how would you sell me this disruptive technology and why should I purchase it from you?
Support Technician
Applied for a tier 1 support role. Went through a phone interview and then two in-person interviews at their nice Indianapolis offices. Everyone was nice, but they mentioned the tier 1 role actually had the workload and stress of a tier 2 or 3 position, and the pay was below average.
- What is your approach to managing stress?
