Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Kimberly-Clark.
Lead Engineer
It was a multi-stage process that started with a recruiter phone screen and then moved on to onsite interviews. For these interviews, you're expected to answer behavioral questions using the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result). Depending on the specific role, there might also be skills tests, personality tests, or other assessments. The whole idea is to see how much experience you have, if you can solve problems, and if you'd be a good fit for the company's needs and culture.
- Can you share a past experience from your work?
Engineer
There was one interview on campus, and they were only looking for CO-OP students. The interview was all behavioral. They weren't looking for older students (seniors), probably because they want you to do multiple CO-OP terms. They hire pretty much exclusively from their CO-OP pool. It was a 2 on 1 interview. They were interviewing 4 students at a time in half hour blocks for the entire day. There are maybe 5 or so chosen at the end of the day, and you hear back within two weeks.
- Can you tell me about a time you experienced conflict within a group?
- Please tell me about yourself.
- What was your biggest failure?
Developer
The interview process began with a 40-minute phone call with the hiring manager, who asked about my children, which I found to be a negative aspect. The second round was a Skype interview with two other male managers. It was entirely a behavioral interview, not particularly challenging but quite dull. During this interview, one of the managers also inquired about my children. Generally, they seemed unclear about the position's specifics, and the interview environment felt like an 'old boys' club.'
- Were you asked about having children?
