First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Kimber.
Manufacturing Engineer
The company paid for my travel, including flights, car rental, and hotel. The interview involved meeting with people from 3 different departments and lasted about 2-3 hours. I got to see the plant, which was very clean. I also had some free time to explore the city and saw Troy University.
- Could you describe your strategy for machining the part we gave you?
Design Engineer
I first spoke with HR over the phone, and then I had a call with the Chief Engineer about the Engineer positions. She expressed interest and invited me for an on-site interview with other engineers. The schedule was: lengthy employment application, HR interview, then interviews with three different engineers. One engineer showed up late with gun components and asked me questions about them, despite me telling the Chief Engineer I had no background in guns. Another engineer arrived late, didn't show up for their slot, and left me waiting unattended. The third engineer was unprofessional, didn't make eye contact, and showed me complex pistol component drawings with questions. The Chief Engineer, who had initially arranged the schedule, did not meet with me. The process was unorganized, off-schedule, and unprofessional, which was surprising given their customer order issues.
- The engineer showed up with 5-10 small mechanical gun parts and asked me questions about them.
- How do you draw pistol parts?
- What manufacturing process would you use for this part?
Senior Programmer Analyst
I applied on June 30, 2016. The recruiter called me first. Then on July 7, 2016, I had a 15 minute interview with the recruiter to make sure my skills matched the job. Later that day, I had a phone interview with the hiring manager. They told me about the company, the work environment, and job expectations, and I got to ask my own questions. Both the recruiter and hiring manager were easy to talk to, which made me feel comfortable.
- Given that this is an Oracle shop, tell me about your Oracle and PL/SQL skills.
- The hiring manager mentioned the workload is split into stored procedures/back end development (30%), web development (30%), and reporting (40% using Excel/VBA and Crystal Reports). Can you elaborate on your experience in these areas?
- Do you have any experience with SQL Server databases?
Call Center Representative
It was quick. Just one on one with the director of the department. They had me look at some example emails and then write responses based on some rules. After that, we talked through my responses. It felt a bit informal, but it was okay.
- Tell me about a time you exceeded expectations.
