I got referred by a friend to their manager, but the manager couldn't proceed because I was rejected a few months ago. I've never actually interviewed with KIK. A recruiter contacted me previously, but she became annoying when she found out about my salary. I suspect she's the one who put me in the system. KIK and I both lost out here, and it's nobody's fault.

Technical Coding

Started with a recruiter chat about the company and setting up a phone interview with a developer. Had a 45-minute phone interview with a developer from the hiring team. Then went through 2 rounds of in-person interviews. The first in-person was with developers from the server team, not the specific team hiring. The second in-person was with the actual hiring team.

Coding Technical Other

Applied via email to this Tools Developer role which was a new position and they were looking for more experience than advertised. First, had a recruiter call to go over the role, my experience, and then was moved forward. Got a take-home coding challenge same day: two Java data manipulation questions and a SQLite query, which was unexpected. Then, an in-person interview at their HQ. Talked with two server devs about Java garbage collection, application scalability, Linux, and parallelism. Followed by a programming challenge: describe multiple solutions to a problem, analyze their complexity, and code one in Python. They want clever linear time solutions.
